Cammie Lusk Gender: Female Age: 39
At one time, Cammie was a very active individual. She loved sports and she enjoyed her life to the fullest. One day, this all changed when Cammie’s life was turned upside-down through a diagnosis of an aggressive form or Multiple Sclerosis. Just in case you don’t know, M.S. attacks the nervous system.
Just one week after the diagnosis, Cammie was unable to lift her leg. The doctors told her that soon that condition would worsen to the point that her husband would not be able to take care of her. This would mean that she would no longer be able to see her husband or her kids on a daily basis.
Cammie started Chemotherapy treatments which slowed her metabolism to a crawl. She rarely ate and her mental outlook declined to a state of full-on depression. She started to believe that her family would be better off without her.
A fighting spirit began to emerge within Cammie when her husband and three boys began to work out to P90X. She wanted to join in, and prove that Multiple Sclerosis could not define who she was.
With the help of a modified workout that was designed by her husband, Cammie began working out to P90X. The nutritional side of the program was initially difficult to follow because her slowed metabolism meant that she was unable to digest the proper amount of calories to provide the sufficient energy to perform the excercises.
Fortunately, Cammie found Shakeology, and her energy levels changed dramatically. Finally, she felt excited about each day’s possibilities because she once again had enough energy to become a part of them.
Her husband, Dan is thankful for once again have is wife back to her old self. He was quoted as saying that Cammiie has required her energy, her metabolism has returned and that she looks amazing. Cammie has also increased her leg strength. She is now riding a stationary bike, and is convinced that one day, she will walk again.
Robert Kirchner Gender: Male Age: 60
At 60-years-old, Robert faced what many men eventually face. He felt tired, he was out of shape, he was overweight, and his blood pressure and cholesterol were both high. His friends told him that he had the normal body of all 60-year-olds. Robert knew that he could not afford to be passive because his father died under similar health conditions.
Robert was convinced that he could regain a youthful body with persistence and a healthy diet. He was a little concerned about how his body would react to difficult exercise routines, but he knew that if he could get through the initial difficulties that he would succeed.
Robert wasn’t sure where to begin. He considered gym memberships, various pieces of fitness equipment, diets. Eventually, Robert spotted an infomercial for P90X, and its patented Muscle Confusion workouts. Robert became a believer after he saw several testimonies of the incredible results that people were attaining with P90X. Ultimately, the deciding factor for Robert was the convenient portability of the P90X program which was a necessity due to the constant travel requirements of his job.
Like many P90X veterans, Robert had to change his bad eating habits. This was one of his bigger challenges, but it wasn’t as difficult as he expected. This was mostly due to the nutritional guide’s large selection of tasty foods that provided him with the needed dietary requirements.
The flexibility of Tony Horton’s P90X allowed Robert to modify the workouts as needed. He still struggles with some of the workouts, but Tony’s famous line “Do your best, and forget the rest” have given Robert the encouragement to keep pushing play every day.
Now(November, 2009) Robert is 61 years-old, and is in better shape than he has been in years. He is now in wonderful shape after losing 56 pounds, shedding 11 inches, and lowering his body fat from 32 to 11 percent.
Jeremy Yost Gender: Male Age: 33
Jeremy was 33 years old, and he was 200 pounds overweight. He had to take constant heart medication because his blood pressure was very high. If nothing changed, his weight would inevitably lead to a life-threatening heart-attack. He already felt like he was dying, but the idea of working out seemed too difficult because his energy was always extremely low. He rarely left the comfort of his living room couch
Jeremy entered the dangerous mental attitude of accepting his unhealthy lifestyle. One day, a friend of Jeremy’s made a bold move, and confronted him about his health. His friend asked him the heart-throbbing question of how would Jeremy feel if another man had to replace him to take care of his wife and raise his kids. Thankfully, this question shook Jeremy to the core, and caused a mental change from acceptance of his weight to a determination to become healthy.
Right away, Jeremy talked to several of his friends and asked them what they did to get fit. Over and over, his friends replied with the answer “P90X.” Each of them had a passionate fire that grew whenever they described this apparently amazing program. Jeremy was quickly convinced that P90X was the answer to his fitness problem.
The biggest draw for Jeremy was the wide variety of exercises that are packed into the P90X program. Each day held something different from the last which helped to keep him interested. Jeremy loved the workouts, but like most things worth attaining, there were a couple of hurdles. The first was the constant temptation to revert to his less than healthy eating habits. The second was pain in his ankle that was caused by arthritis.
Initially, Jeremy had to modify all of the exercises due to his weight and arthritis, but he never backed down. He struggled through every moment, and like every great triumphant story, he attained his goal. He did his best, and forgot the rest. Today, Jeremy has traded his 200 extra pounds for a six-pack.
Dhalma Bean Gender: Female Age: 29
“Once a Marine, always a Marine.” This attitude was truly embedded into the DNA of former marine Dhalma Bean. She maintained a can do attitude that paired perfectly with her healthy addiction to the gym.
When she had her first child, Dhalma lost the baby weight almost immediately. She expected to achieve the same fast results when she had her second. Unfortunately, this time, the weight refused to leave. Dhalma’s frustration grew when not only did she not lose weight, but actually gained more.
After topping at 140, Dhalma found her answer. It is the same answer that millions of other Americans have also found. P90X. The workouts seemed difficult, but Dhalma would not be daunted. She knew that the extra intensity would provide the extra benefits that would put her over the edge of success.
When she first started, Dhalma was unable to do a single pull-up. Now, while she cannot pull-out pull-ups like a Terminator she can do them. Not only has Dhalma added pull-ups to her repertoire, but she has subtracted 21 pounds, six inches, and is now running 10K’s!
Brance Wilson Gender: Male Age: 21
Brance Wilson was born and raised in Texas, and he enjoyed maintaining a very active life. This apparent healthy lifestyle was contradicted by his consistently unhealthy food choices. Brance’s meals were most often found written on the menus of fast food restaurants such such as KFC and Taco Bell. When Brance began totaling the calories, he found that his daily calorie intake averaged around 5,000 calories. This excessive intake of calories was obviously the source of the of Brance’s extra weight.
It was at Spring break that he really started to notice that his weight had gotten out of hand. During his entire trip, Brance was uncomfortable and embarrassed of his weight.
By the time that Brance arrived back home, he was committed to whatever changes that he needed to make. Like many, the changes began with the well-known P90X commercial. Inspired by the commercial’s testimonials, Brance knew immediately that P90X was the solution for him. The exercises looked challenging, but he knew that challenging was exactly what he needed. He also knew that great results require great effort, and he appreciated that P90X was not claiming to be a quick-fix solution.
Brance knew immediately that his biggest challenge would come from his lack of time. Being a medical student, about 70 hours every week were devoted to his classes. By the time he would get back from school, he was tired and mentally and physically drained. However, where there is a will, there is a way. Brance made a way by making all of his meals early in the morning and working out after 11 P.M.
Brance’s commitment clearly paid off! By the end of the program, Brance lost nearly 30 pounds and gained quite a bit of muscle. When he began, Brance was unable to do a single workout. When he was finished, he was able to do more than 20. Congratulations Brance! |
