How many calories will I burn?
Your mileage will vary depending on several factors such as height, weight, gender, age, etc. In addition, each Hip Hop abs workout is a different length. However, even with these variations, it has been calculated that most individuals burn roughly 8 calories per minute during the Hip Hop Abs workouts. There are lots of people who claim to burn many more calories than 8 per minute, but we will stick with the conservative estimates for now.

Can someone who has never danced do Hip Hop Abs?
Yes, it was designed for the people who love to dance, but every move is simple enough that even those with two left feet can still step in line. Every move is broken down to its individual parts. Be assured, no matter how bad at dancing you think that you are, you can still do it. In fact, this is a perfect introduction to dancing for anyone who can’t dance and wants to dance.

How Does Hip Hop Abs work?
Like most Beachbody programs, Hip Hop Abs has a Physical component as well as a nutritional component. This is necessary for any complete workout system to be a success. Will Hip Hop Abs help me gain muscle?
Yes, but not a crazy amount. It will make you stronger, but the main focus of Hip Hop Abs is to shave your body fat to an athletic body fat percentage. It isn’t designed to be a P90X substitute, but it does a very good job at what it is designed to do.

How many workouts are included?
There are only four workouts, but that is not a weakness. Shaun T worked very hard at creating and combining the perfect moves to target all the right muscles. You will not grow bored of the workouts because they are fun, filled with great music, and of course lots of dancing.

Hip Hop Abs Vs Turbo Jam vs Power 90
All three of these workouts are what you could call entry exercise programs. They are challenging, but they are made to help average individuals whether overweight or not, to achieve an above average level of fitness. After completing these programs, many graduates move on to Insanity, Turbo Fire, and P90X which will take you from an above average level of fitness to an insane level of fitness. That being said, here are the similarities and differences between the programs.


Hip Hop Abs
Perfect for those of you who dread workouts. Shaun T will keep your mind off the pain and on the fun. An enjoyable collection of moves will train your body to move like a hipster and drop unwanted pounds like the Niagara Falls pours water.

Turbo Jam
Like Hip Hop Abs, Turbo Jam has a wonderful fast paced selection of music. However, Chalene has filled her workouts with cardio, kickboxing, as well as some dancing. This is a faster paced workout than HHA, and the workouts, on average, are a bit longer. Some studies have shown that some people have lost an excess 1,000 calories per hour. That is incredible.

Power 90
Tony Horton programs have been a staple of Beachbody workouts. Almost everyone knows him because he is known to bring results. Power 90 is no different. This program is mostly cardio based which typically means that it is meant to shave of pounds. However, it is also has some focus on attaining the sought after six-pack abs. Hip Hop Abs Success Story - Carol Searcy

Carol was once very skinny as a child. Her mom used to worry about her because her ribs were always showing through whenever she has a swimming suit on. After she met her husband she traded one weight issue for another. Her weight quickly rose from too skinny to overweight. At her highest recorded weight she weighed 214 pounds.

There were several moments that eventually drove her to her turnaround point. It started with not being able to play with her daughter, and eventually led to what she believed at the time was a heart-attack. Thankfully, it wasn’t, but the doctor did tell her that she had some very serious blood pressure issues, and wrote her several prescriptions.

Later, Carol and her family planned a vacation to Disneyworld. Her doctor, concerned for her health, told her that she was not healthy enough to walk around the park. If she was going to go, she would be bound to a wheelchair. This was humiliating news for Carol. She did go, and like the doctor recommended, she spent the vacation in the wheelchair. On her flight back, Carol fell asleep. When she woke up, she overheard the flight attendant and some of the passengers laughing at her loud snoring. The snoring was caused by her sleep apnea which was yet another symptom of being overweight.

Eventually, all of these moments led her to the fateful and wonderful decision to lose the weight. Like many people, she saw the Hip Hop Abs infomercial. She watched the infomercial several times, and tried to imitate the moves. She eventually ordered it after realizing that she could perform the moves. Once she got started, she started to lose weight dramatically. She lost 2 inches within the first 6 days, and that quickly grew to over 60 pounds. When she went to the mall, she found out that she had went from a size 18 to a size 8. She quickly knocked off a couple more sizes a short while after. In addition to losing the weight, she also lost her sleep apnea. This obviously made both her and her husband very happy. Today, she says that she always has energy. Carol is just one success story, and there are lots of others.
